Power Electronics role in meeting the challenge of “Net Zero” by 2050

Christopher Smith

Abstract

The UK Committee on Climate Change indicates that to meet net zero CO2 by 2050 more than 75GW of offshore wind is required in UK waters. At present 8GW is operational and 14GW will be operational by 2023. To meet the target significant infrastructure build is required. The presentation will discuss the challenges and opportunities for technical innovations in power electronic systems to support the move to a greenergrid.
